Born on September 6 1974 in Oxford (England), Timothy Henry Henman began to play tennis at age 2 1/2 with his parents, Anthony and Jane, and his two older brothers. His family was very involved in tennis, as his grandfather, Henry Billington, had played in Wimbledon before him. He turned pro in 1993 and, helped by former ATP Pro Larry Stefanki, has upgraded his ranking since then, entering top 10 in 1998. Getting as far as the semifinals of Wimbledon in 2002, he did prove that he had the potential to accomplish what no British player could ever do for many years : claim the Championships title.. |
