July 24th 2008: Sad news as Marat lost his match today in the Tennis Masters Toronto as he lost to Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka 3-6, 4-6.

July 24th 2008: Good news as Marat won his match today in the Tennis Masters Toronto as he defeated USA's Sam Querrey with a 6-3, 6-3 win, he will now face Stanislas Wawrinka.

July 23rd 2008: Marat announced he and sister Dinara Safina will be teaming up next year to play together in the Hopman Cup in Perth, Australia. Read about it here.

July 9th 2008: Sad news as Marat lost his match today in the Swedish Open, Baastad as he lost to Italy's Potito Starace 7-6, 3-6, 6-4.

July 8th 2008: Good news as Marat won his match today in the Swedish Open, Baastad as he defeated M. Lopez with a 7-6, 7-5 win, he will now face Potito Starace. “It was tough because coming from grass it is a little bit different surface,” Safin said after his first match in Bastad in 10 years.

July 4th 2008: That's it, Marat's great run in Wimbledon is now over as he was defeated by world #1 Roger Federer, a 6-3, 7-6, 6-4 loss in the semifinals..more to come....

July 2nd 2008: He had a few ups and downs today but Marat was able to come up with a 3-6, 7-5, 7-6, 6-3 win against Feliciano Lopez to reach his first ever Wimbledon semifinal! Problem is that he will now face the best player on grass, Swiss Roger Federer.

June 30th 2008: Good news as Marat won his match today in the Wimbledon as he defeated Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka with a 6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 win, he will now face Feliciano Lopez.

June 27th 2008: Good news as Marat won his match today in the Wimbledon as he defeated Italy's Andre Seppi with a 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 win, he will now face Stanislas Wawrinka..!!

June 25th 2008: Good news as Marat won his match today in the Wimbledon as he defeated Serbia's Novak Djokovic with a 6-4, 7-6, 6-2 win, he will now face Andre Seppi.

June 23rd 2008: Good news as Marat won his match today in the Wimbledon as he defeated Italy's Fabio Fognini with a 6-1, 6-2, 7-6 win, he will now face Novak Djokovic.

May 28th 2008: Good news as Marat won his match today in the Roland Garros as he defeated Monaco's Jean-Rene Lisnard with a 6-7, 6-1, 6-3 win, he will now face #4 seed, Russian Nikolay Davydenko.

May 14th 2008: Good news as Marat won his match today in the Tennis Masters Hamburg as he defeated Czeck Republic's Thomas Berdych with a 7-5, 6-4 win, he will now face Carlos Moya.
