<font color='#FF0000'>Just a question - I think Nadia Petrova should be on the comeback player of the year list. She started the year around the 120's after missing most of 2002 with injury. Remember she used to be a top 30 player and a great comeback to now be in the top 15...

Hey Aidan--

Yeah, I put together those nominee lists and there were a lot of potential additional nominees. *The original lists had about 10 in each category, then I cut them down to 5 in most cases. *As a result, some deserving people were left off in most every category.

As for Petrova, I admit I didn't think of her for Comeback Player, largely because she had such a great season that I thought she deserved to be in one of the "higher" categories (Rising/Breakout). *I tried to spread the nominees around so just about everybody deserving on some list was at least a nominee on one of them, so if someone liked that player they'd at least be able to vote for her somewhere. *As a result, to make room, a few "multi-deserving" players only show up once (though Sharapova is a multiple nominee). *I put Vento-Kabchi in the final Comeback slot, rather than either the Veteran or Surprise categories, for instance.

Even still, there are some minor regrets. *Looking back now, I wish I'd put Barna in the Surprise category, for example, because that one's nominees are a little thin, I think.
