Moscow, Russia (Sports Network) - Russia will be led by French Open champion Anastasia Myskina and U.S. Open winner Svetlana Kuznetsova when it meets Austria in next week's Fed Cup semifinals, while defending champion France will feature Amelie Mauresmo and Mary Pierce when it battles five-time titlist Spain.
The semifinals will be held from November 24-25 on the indoor carpet at Krylatskoye Ice Stadium, with the final to be staged from November 27-28.
Russia has never won the Fed Cup, but heads into next week's action with two of the world's top-four players, with Myskina at No. 3 and Kuznetsova at No. 4. The Russian squad will be rounded out by No. 11 Vera Zvonareva and No. 24 Elena Likhovtseva.
Austria, which upset the United States in this year's quarterfinals, will send Sybille Bammer, Yvonne Meusberger, Patricia Wartusch and Daniela Kix to face the heavily-favored Russians.
When France encounters Spain, Mauresmo and Pierce will be joined by Nathalie Dechy and Tatiana Golovin, while the underdog Spaniards will compete with Virginia Ruano Pascual, Anabel Medina Garrigues, Marta Marrero and Maria Sanchez Lorenzo.
