Julia Cohen won the tournament pretty easily, is she a hope for American tennis?

Absolutely! I think this generation of players is going to be the revival of American tennis. I'm trying to work my way up the ranks as well ;)

Hey American Tennis is not dead, look at me at 44 years old I played on a College tennis team and had the best record on the team. 7-3 for the season. If I was younger I would be trying to climb the ranks, but tons of people in the USA play tennis and we support every young person playing the sport. I have also played in tons of USTA tournaments so I can tell you tennis is more than alive in the USA. Lets just hope we get a few young stars soon.

yeah, as incorrect as it may be, I think the state of the game is often measured as per the number of stars, either top 100 or top 10...

I agree, it seems that for example in Australia as go Hewitt and Molik, as go the talks about the "state of the game"
