In a battle of two Russian teens, world No.13 Anna Chakvetadze claimed her third Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles title, adding to previous straight-set title wins at 2006 Guangzhou and Moscow.
Chakvetadze will pocket US$23,700 for the title win.
Playing in her first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour final, Vasalisa Bardina had never appeared in a Tour quarterfinal prior to this week.
This final was a first-time meeting for Chakvetadze and Bardina.
Bardina surged from No.70 to No.48 on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour rankings this week to make her Top 50 debut.
No.4-seeded doubles team Elena Likhovtseva and Elena Vesnina claimed their first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour doubles title as a team in only their second event playing together. They first paired up at Gold Coast last week, when they reached the quarterfinals.
Likhovtseva now owns 26 Tour doubles titles and Vesnina holds two.
Top-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual reached the final in their first event as a team on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour. They have previously paired up for three Fed Cup appearances.
