I'm not too surprised, but extremely happy with this win. :):)

Great, great job, Tati!!!! GL against Ana.

you said not too long ago that Tati had problems against Ana right?

Davenport
04-06-2007, 06:22 PM
Yeah, big problems. Tati even joked in her ESPN interview after beating Venus, "I can never beat her." *laughter* Maybe with her new-found confidence and her great play as of late, Tati will beat Ana. :D

it will be interesting to see how much confidence she can take from this?

Well, guys, Tati is not my most favourite player of all time as you know, but I am sooooooo sooo happy for her really, I mean, I would love to see her play so good all the time, I really wish her to be successful, I do think she earned this so much!

Davenport

Haha, yeah, I changed it a few hours after she won, I think.

I really do think she will take a lot of confidence from this win, Terrell, and I think it will help her win latter rounds much more easily. This is what Kournikova needed and never got. Tati's career should be on a different level after Sunday. That is if she doesn't follow in Makiri's footsteps.

Jennifer

hmmm yeah, she's got a different game than Makiri without any doubt, I think she'll be fine and today's win in Charleston was a good start. I hope for her she'll have a bit of a break after this one?

Sjudit84

Makiri?

Davenport

Makiri-Maria Kirilenko. :)

Unfortunately not. She's playing Craybas 3rd on Court Althea Gisbson today. She has a blister on her foot and feels her body is not in great condition and getting worse, but she still wants to do well in Charleston. Schnyder and Safina are tough, but with Tati's recent for she can win. :)

Makiri-Maria Kirilenko. :)

Do you find these names for them like Mariki and Tati or do they say it also?Or if you make these names, do they know about them?

PierreC
04-13-2007, 09:13 PM
I think some of them come from logical reasons ... like Nastya for Myskina for example, it's a known short name in Russia (like Masha for Maria)..

But Makiri..yeah not sure where it started:)

Davenport
04-14-2007, 09:18 PM
People confused Masha for Maria Sharapova when in fact it's just a name for "little Maria." They then made Maria Kirilenko

Tati is just a made up nickname for Tatiana. :)

Sjudit84

Who confused Masha for Sharapova's name? Are they stupid?I mean, I have not been to Russia yet and I only studied it for about 2 months, but I know Masha is a nickname for Maria since I am about 5 years old:D:D:D

Does Tatiana know about her nickname?

Davenport
04-16-2007, 11:56 AM
Yeah, she talked about it in an interview on the Tennis Channel. :)

And what did she say?Did she like her name?:)

No, I don't study it...why?I tried to leran once this semester, but after the alphabet I gave it up...the teacher was too fast for me.

Had she been asked about her name or just said she knew about it?

I had not even noticed people could mistake Masha for that...

Davenport
04-19-2007, 07:24 PM
They asked her if she had any nicknames, and she said her American fans like to call her "Tati." She smiled, obviously liking the name. :)

Aussiefan
04-22-2007, 10:50 PM
hahaha so it's just the Americans then? What do the others call her?

Terrell
04-22-2007, 11:09 PM
yeah I thought Tati was actually quite international!!

Sjudit84
04-24-2007, 09:58 AM
