- Golovin's semifinal win over Ivanovic was her first in their six career encounters; her championship win over Petrova was her fifth in their six career encounters.
- This was Golovin's second career tournament on green clay; her first came at Charleston in 2005, reaching the semis; she is now 9-1 lifetime on the surface.
- At 19 years, 2 months and 14 days, Golovin is the youngest Tour singles titlist so far this season.
- Petrova is now 7-7 lifetime in Tour singles finals, and 1-1 this year (she won Paris [Indoors]); she was defending a title for the second time in her career and for the second time she finished runner-up (she fell to Sharapova in the 2006 Linz final).
- Petrova's 14-match win streak on green clay was snapped (she was 10-0 at Amelia Island and Charleston last year, and 4-0 in reaching this final).
- Santangelo won her third career Tour doubles title while Srebotnik earned her 15th; both had already won one Tour doubles title earlier this season; they were playing together for the first time.

Quotes
Tatiana Golovin, 2007 Bausch & Lomb Championships singles champion:
"Beating Venus and Ivanovic, and especially Ivanovic because I'd never beaten her before, gave me confidence. Today I knew I could beat Petrova. I knew I had the weapons and I told myself to stay aggressive and use my forehand; I think it put a lot of pressure on her. When the last games came, I didn't get scared. Today was different from my other finals because I went out there feeling I was ready to win my first title - that I worked hard for it and deserved it."

"Last year I was sitting in my room with my cast on, watching Petrova in the semis or finals, wishing I was here. It's definitely emotional for me to be here a year later in the final, winning the tournament."

Nadia Petrova, 2007 Bausch & Lomb Championships singles runner-up:
"It wasn't a really nice match for me today; I just wasn't sharp enough. I was just a split second late to get to the balls and didn't have my concentration. She played solid, though; she doesn't have weaknesses. It's about time she won her first title!"
