Final Facts
- Jankovic captured her third and biggest career Tour singles title at Charleston, a Tier I event; her first two came at the Tier V in Budapest in 2004 and the Tier IV in Auckland earlier this year; she is now 3-5 lifetime in Tour singles finals (she was runner-up at Dubai, Birmingham and Seoul in 2005, Los Angeles last summer and Sydney earlier this year); this was Jankovic's first Tier I singles final.
- At two hours, 31 minutes, Jankovic's semifinal victory over Venus Williams was longer than her first three rounds combined (she beat Rodionova, Santangelo and Srebotnik in two hours, 18 minutes total).
- Safina is now 5-4 lifetime in Tour singles finals; this was her second Tier I singles final, and she is now 0-2 in those, having finished runner-up to Hingis at Rome last May.
- Both Jankovic and Safina will make notable moves on Monday's rankings; the Serb will go from No.9 to No.7, a new career-high, while the Russian rises from No.12 to No.10, a return to her career-high (she was ranked No.10 for four weeks last October and three weeks this past January).
- Jankovic becomes the first female from Serbia to cross $2-million in career prize money earnings.
- With her opening round win over Daniilidou, Safina notched her 200th career singles match victory.
- Yan and Zheng collected their ninth career Tour doubles title; they won two in 2005 and six in 2006, including the Australian Open and Wimbledon; they are now 9-5 lifetime in Tour doubles finals.

Quotes
Jelena Jankovic, 2007 Family Circle Cup singles champion:
"I had an awesome week here, especially beating Venus. Today in the final it was a bit of a different story because of the weather. It was really windy and tough circumstances, but I gave my best, and I'm the champion. I'm so happy I won this title. It's my first Tier I title. It's a really amazing feeling."

Dinara Safina, 2007 Family Circle Cup singles runner-up:
"I'm definitely happy. I wouldn't have expected to reach the finals. If somebody told me I was going to be in the final I would shake his hand and say 'Okay, I'll give you half of my prize money.' Sometimes it just goes your way."
