- Morigami won for the first time in three meetings against Bartoli, having previously lost at 2004 Los Angeles (in straight sets) and 2006 Seoul (in three sets).
- Bartoli is now 3-2 in Tour singles finals, having won in Auckland, Tokyo [Japan Open] and Québec City last year and finishing runner-up at Bali, also last year.
- This was just the second time in Tour history that two players who hit with two hands on both sides squared off for a singles title; the first came at Tokyo [Japan Open] last year, when Bartoli beat Morigami's countrywoman, Nakamura, for the title.
- Cetkovska and Hlavackova were playing together at a Tour event for the first time; they each captured their first Tour events of any kind; they saved five set points in the first set tie-break of the final, four of those coming at 6-2 down and one more at 7-6 down.

Quotes
Akiko Morigami, 2007 ECM Prague Open singles champion:
"Marion hits really well and is very consistent, so today my game plan was to move her around. Unlike in Seoul last year I executed my game plan all the way, from beginning to the end. Today I'm glad to say it went my way. But it's very unfortunate for Marion; hopefully she'll be healthy again soon."

Marion Bartoli, 2007 ECM Prague Open singles runner-up:
"I wasn't moving well because of my injury but sometimes this is how it goes. But Akiko played well, and definitely deserved to win. And although I lost the final, I'm happy with my week and reaching my first final of the year."
