Final Facts
- Chakvetadze improves to 6-0 lifetime in Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles finals, having already won titles last year at Guangzhou and Moscow and earlier this year at Hobart, 's-Hertogenbosch and just last week in Cincinnati; Stanford, a Tier II event, represents her second-biggest career title (after Tier I Moscow).
- Chakvetadze became the third player this year to win four or more Tour singles titles, after Henin (who has five) and Jankovic (who has four).
- Chakvetadze is now 9-0 on summer hardcourts this year, having gone 5-0 to win Cincinnati last week and 4-0 to win in Stanford.
- Mirza is now 1-2 lifetime in Tour singles finals, having already won Hyderabad and finished runner-up at Forest Hills (both in 2005).
- With her wins over No.19 Golovin and No.17 Schnyder earlier this week, Mirza beat two Top 20 players at the same event for the first time in her career.
- With her title, Chakvetadze moves from No.7 to No.6 on the Tour Singles Rankings this week, a new career-high; Mirza moves from No.35 to No.31, a return to her career-high.
- Mirza won her third Tour doubles title of the year (and the sixth of her career), while Peer won her first Tour doubles title of the year (and the third of her career).
- This was the first time since Indian Wells in March 2003 that two singles finalists would also find each other on the opposite side of the net in the doubles final (Clijsters beat Davenport in the singles final, then Davenport and Raymond beat Clijsters and Sugiyama in the doubles final).

Quotes
Anna Chakvetadze, 2007 Bank of the West Classic singles champion:
"I was trying to move Sania around the court and it worked well for me today. I have to play only in the United States - it's great here. I like the food, I like the people; I just enjoy being here. I like the hardcourts, too!"

Sania Mirza, 2007 Bank of the West Classic singles runner-up:
"This week has shown me that I can play good tennis consistently for the whole week - not that I played an ugly match today, but physically I don't think I took it as well as she did. But this gives me lots more confidence that I can go deep into a lot more tournaments. Playing Morigami in the first round is not the easiest draw you can ask for, either - she has been playing well all year."
