Quotes
Maria Sharapova, 2007 Acura Classic singles champion:
"It’s always nice to win a title, but it’s that extra bit special when you’re defending champion. I’m really happy with how I was hitting the ball today and it also means a lot to me knowing that I was the last ever champion of such a great tournament like San Diego. Patty is a tough opponent and I was always aware I couldn’t give her even a little opening as she would take advantage, so I was really pleased to get the win over her.”
Patty Schnyder, 2007 Acura Classic singles runner-up:
"Today she went for her shots and most of the time she made them, so I think she deserved her win. When she gets on a roll she is really difficult to compete against, but I can’t complain as I’ve had a great week and played some fantastic tennis and beat some top players."
