- Pennetta wins her sixth career Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles title, following previous triumphs at 2004 Sopot, 2005 Bogotá, 2005 Acapulco, 2007 Bangkok and 2008 Vińa del Mar (all of her titles have come at the Tier III level and five have come on clay, the only exception being 2007 Bangkok, which was on hard); she is now 6-6 lifetime in Tour singles finals.
- Pennetta is now 24-4 lifetime in Acapulco, winning the title twice (2005, 2008), finishing runner-up three times (2004, 2006, 2007) and falling in the quarterfinals once (2003).
