August 27th 2008: Sad news as Vera lost her match today in the US Open as she lost to Ukraine's Tatiana Perebiynis 3-6, 3-6.

August 25th 2008: Good news as Vera won her match today in the US Open as she defeated Czeck Republic's Barbara Zahlavova Strycova with a 6-4, 6-3 win, she will now face Tatiana Perebiynis.

August 17th 2008: Vera continued her run after all as she won the bronze medal with a 6-0, 7-5 win against Na Li from China. This completes a sweep by Russians in tennis as Elena Dementieva and Dinara Safina won the gold and silver!!

August 16th 2008: Vera was in action in Beijing today but unfortunately was defeated by Elena Dementieva 6-3, 7-6...!! She will now face Na Li for the bronze medal!!

August 14th 2008: Good news as Vera won her match today in the Summer Olympics as she defeated Austria's Sybille Bammer with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win, she will now face Elena Dementieva!

August 13th 2008: Good news as Vera won her match today in the Summer Olympics as she defeated Italy's Francesca Schiavone with a 7-6, 6-4 win, she will now face Sybille Bammer.

July 24th 2008: Good news as Vera won her match today in the Los Angeles, as she defeated USA's Jill Craybas with a 6-4, 7-6 win, she will now face #9 seed Nadia Petrova.

July 18th 2008: Vera was in action this week in the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford but unfortunately, she was defeated in yesterday's first round, losing to Australian Samantha Stosur 6-3, 6-2:(
